This moon jar is hand-made by Sang-geun Jeon, a ceramic artist that specialises in using traditional Korean pottery techniques to create modern pieces.
Moon jars have been a unique feature to Korean pottery and were adopted as imperial ware in the 15th century during Joseon Dynasty, last kingdom of Korea. Although moon jars are traditionally made in white porcelain, the artist took a modern spin by introducing black clay as a substitute as well. The rough texture of the black clay moon jar creates a subdued, rustic look and complements natural elements well.
To make it a special gift for your loved ones, the moon jar will be wrapped in a custom-made protective wooden box.
